Colorbred Lines

In the rat fancy, I have found that pure, colorbred lines are incredibly hard to find.  Most lines contain many dilutes that tend to affect the true coloring of a rat's coat.  My goal with the colorbred lines is to produce the best examples of their coat color.  The reason for breeding these colorbred lines is for the eventual crossbreeding into the Midnight blue line.  I do not want any dilutes affecting the Midnight blue line other than the color I breed into it.  Not all of the colorbred lines have their own pages yet, but as soon as they are established, they will.  Here is the list of colorbred lines that I would eventually like to have to cross into the Midnight blue line:

Black/Agouti - in progress

Beige/Fawn - in progress

American Blue/American Blue Agouti - in progress

RED-based Platinum/RED-based Platinum Agouti - temporarily on hold

Champagne/PED based colors - in progress

Chocolate - in progress

Classic Lilac (Chocolate and American blue) - in progress

UK Mink/Cinnamon/UK Pearl - in progress

Mink-based Platinum/Mink-based Platinum Agouti - temporarily on hold

Russian Blue/Russian Blue Agouti - in progress

Russian Dove/Russian Cinnamon - in progress

Russian Silver/Russian Silver Agouti - in progress

Russian Beige/Russian Fawn - in progress

As of 12/07, we have started our champagne, chocolate champagne and classic lilac colorbred lines. We will work on bringing out the chocolate in these lines as well.

As of 7/07, we have started our American blue, beige and fawn colorbred lines.  These lines are going to remain small and tightly bred until all other dilutes are brought out of them.  This may take several years, but it will be worth it to have pure lines.  Of course type, temperment and conformation will be of the utmost importance when working with these lines.
