Reserve Policy

Reserve Policy

My reserve policy is very simple. When the litter is old enough to show definite colors, markings and ear types (usually by 2-3 weeks of age), I will post them on their litter pages. After I have decided who I will keep (usually at 4-5 weeks), I will start reserving babies. Whoever contacts me first about the certain rat(s), gets their name on the list for the animal(s) once they are approved to adopt. Please send in your adoption application prior to trying to reserve rats. You will not be able to adopt without this application and approval. YOU must e-mail me in order to have the rat(s) reserved for you. I will not track you down. If you don't contact me, you will not be placed on the list. My rats are ready for their new homes at 6 weeks old.  I am willing to hold the rat(s) until they are 8 weeks old unless we have made other arrangements for pick-up/delivery. If I don't hear from you in a timely manner regarding pick-up, I will assume you don't want the rats and they will go back up for adoption. You may be asked to put down a deposit if I am holding the rats after 8 weeks of age. I normally don't ask for a deposit but if too many people back out of reserves, then you will need to send a deposit.  Also, if you are from out of state and I have never dealt with you before, you will need to put a deposit on any rats you reserve.

Pick-Up Policy

When you come to get your new rat(s), you must have a proper travel carrier or cage to transport them in.  No rats will be allowed to ride home in your coat, shirt or hands.  The travel carrier is for their safety.  If you do not have a travel carrier, I can make a sturdy, longlasting carrier for $10. You must let me know at least 5 days in advance if you would like a carrier made.   If I am travelling to a particular area closer to your area, I can most likely meet you at a pre-arranged time and location.  I frequent the Ann Arbor/Saline area, mostly during the week and occasionally go to Lansing or Grand Rapids .  I prefer to meet adopters in an easy-to-find location in the South Lyon or New Hudson area.

Closed Rattery and Visitors

Due to the risk of illnesses from outside sources, I do not allow visitors inside the rat room. If you have rats on reserve from me, I will normally meet you at a separate location. I will not bend on this policy as it protects my rats from potential disease.
